Happy easter lockdown! 🐇Here's some free experimental music for everyone. 🙃
Due to the quarantine, I finally started to realize the idea I’ve been thinking about for a while: incorporating live instruments into electronic music in an improvisational form. The result is the new spontaneous musical project just started alongside Diablo a.k.a. Redsh1ft, Ants Wið Antlers. This minialbum is based on an interplay between his drumming and my synths, electronics, and occasional guitar riffs. We didn’t think too much about composing the songs in advance, usually he started improvising on the drums on which I built the rest of the music, or I presented some rough sketches to him, for which he figured out the rhythm. Then, when all was set, we miked up the drum kit in the living room, and started recording. During the arrangement and the mixing phase, I tried to chop up the drum tracks as little as possible to preserve the "live" vibe of the rhythm.
The result is about 25 minutes of eclectic mess around the territories of free “jazz”, electronica, bass music, with some subtle hints of jungle, metal, and experimental music.
I thought of putting it out as a name-your-price release, because it’s quite far from a “professional” recording, we did it only for fun and to pass the time, which is quite evident in how it sounds. But we both loved doing it, so the Ants Wið Antlers project will definitely be continued. (If it gets so popular to pass my free download limit, then I’ll eventually have to put a price of a few cents on it I guess.)
Meanwhile, Circles Vol.3. is also in progress and coming soon…
